What is Botox?
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are FDA-approved injectable solutions, or neuromodulators, that temporarily and safely paralyze the muscles that control facial movement. In doing so, it is clinically proven to reduce or eliminate dynamic wrinkles.
As we age, the presence of fine lines and wrinkles can become bothersome. While we can’t stop the aging process, there are methods to help slow the process and soften our facial expressions and wrinkles. These injections are used to relax wrinkle-causing muscles creating a smoothed and improved appearance in the overlying skin. The most commonly treated areas are the frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet. Medications such as Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are neurotoxins derived from highly purified forms of botulinum toxin type A.

Botox is an effective treatment for teeth grinding at night, relaxing the muscles that cause involuntary jaw movements and clenching. This can help relieve pain in the jaw and cause a slimming effect in the face. Botox can also be used for excessive sweating and in this instance, it works a bit differently. It blocks the release of acetylcholine, which triggers the sweat glands to perspire. The result is dry underarms and no more embarrassing sweat stains on your clothes. Treatment will be specified to your needs, injecting just the right amount needed to achieve the desired effect.
Neuromodulator Results & Recovery
Another great benefit is that Botox starts working fast and you can expect to see results begin within a few days of treatment and continued improvement for about two weeks. After the two-week mark, we ask that you follow up with any concerns. If needed, we then ask you to come in for a follow-up visit to assess results and make any adjustments needed to ensure you have the best result possible.

Although the results are temporary, they can be long-lasting. For wrinkles, you can expect results to last between three to six months. Keep in mind, it is normal to have some return of movement as soon as 6-8 weeks post-treatment. For bruxism (teeth grinding), Botox can last four to eight months while hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) can keep underarms dry for four to 14 months. The duration of your results may vary as everyone is different.

Some people tend to delay wrinkle treatments because of the fear of injections or a busy schedule. Neuromodulators are a quick treatment and you can return to work and social activities when you’re done. You may experience redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites. Any small bumps tend to go away within an hour and any bruising may be covered with makeup after 6-8 hours. You mustn't lie down, touch your face, exercise, use a sauna, or swim for 4 hours post-injection. You should also avoid rubbing the area(s) or intense physical activities for 24 hours.

While most patients are candidates for neuromodulators, there are a few instances that prevent you from receiving treatment. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection at the injection site, have certain neuromuscular disorders, or have allergies to the ingredients, you are not eligible for these injections.
Brand Options

While we offer Botox which is the leading muscle relaxer for cosmetic purposes, it isn’t your only option. At Injectology Aesthetics, we proudly offer three of the leading anti-wrinkle medications including Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. Regardless of the brand chosen between you and your injector, we will access the corresponding brand’s membership rewards to ensure you receive any discounts they may offer. Although you will often hear people refer to “Botox”, we have found that this brand name may be used somewhat generically regardless of the brand they are receiving.

Dysport is a temporary wrinkle treatment that works beautifully to soften the frown lines, crow’s feet around the eyes and forehead lines for a smoother, younger-looking complexion. The main ingredient in Dysport is quite similar to Botox. The true benefit of Dysport is that it may last longer than Botox for some and offers a soft, refined result. Dysport is dosed differently than Botox and Xeomin and typically requires three times as many units. At Injectology Aesthetics, we similarly dose and price Dysport to our other toxins to help avoid confusion. For example, if you receive 50 units of Dysport in our facility, you are technically getting 150 units of Dysport which may cause confusion if changing to a different provider.

Xeomin is one of our top Botox alternatives. With its purified form, Xeomin has gained popularity as an effective alternative to Botox. Like Botox and Dysport, it eliminates frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in a few quick injections. Rarely, some people may develop a resistance to the ingredients in Botox. If you had Botox in the past and it stopped working, it is possible that you developed antibodies to its ingredients. Thankfully, that doesn’t mean you have to live with those fine lines and wrinkles. Since its FDA approval in 2010, Xeomin has gained global recognition for its efficacy. Unlike other neurotoxins, Xeomin does not have any accessory proteins, meaning it only contains one single ingredient: botulinum toxin type A.
Treatment Options
We price our neuromodulators by unit so the price varies significantly depending on which brand is used and how many units you receive. Please note, that we have a minimum fee of $125 for any tox appointment which will apply to standalone treatments of a small area such as a lip flip. Approximate dosing and costs are listed below to help give you a very rough idea.
We occasionally run promotions and always offer manufacturer rewards when available.

Full Pattern Face
Most of our neuromodulator treatments include injecting the frown lines, forehead, and crow's feet. The standard FDA dosing for all three areas is 64 units, however, some may require more or fewer units to achieve their desired results.
Our Favorite Add-Ons with Full Pattern Face Treatments or as Stand-Alone Injections:
DAO
One of our favorite areas to add to your tox treatment is the Depressor Angularis Oris (DAO) muscle which is responsible for pulling the corners of your mouth downward when you frown. When this is relaxed, it can give a slight raise to the corners making you look just a little sweeter. It can also reduce horizontal wrinkling in the marionette area when frowning. We usually inject 3-4 units per side.
Chin
If the orange peel appearance on your chin bothers you, we have a quick fix. Just a couple of quick injections in the chin will help reduce the dimpling. It may also help reduce the mental crease which is the horizontal line between the chin and bottom lip. The average dosing here is 6-10 units.
Goodbye Gummy Smile
Do you hold back on smiling to avoid showing your gums? We can inject neurotoxin between your nose and upper lip to temporarily relax the muscles that elevate when you smile which can lower your top lip and allow you to smile without showing your gums. The average dosing is around 6 units.
Neck Lift
An additional lifting option involves injecting the platysma bands that extend vertically from the jawline down the neck. Platysma bands can pull the jawline down leading to a more noticeable jowl area. These tend to protrude more with certain facial animations or appear more pronounced at rest with age. These bands typically require around 10 units each and most of us have 4 bands to address but again, every one is unique.
Tech Neck
In this era, we are all spending more time on our cell phones and computers leading to an increase in horizontal necklines, or necklace lines. These can be injected superficially to help soften the appearance of the lines. We often use about 10 units per horizontal line but this varies by person. This pairs beautifully with microneedling or our BioSculpt Collagen Treatment.
Sweat Reduction
Botulinum toxin is a great treatment for excessive sweating! The average dose is 50 units per armpit, and additional dosing may be needed at a follow-up visit in more active areas that did not fully resolve from sweating.
Bunny Nose
Some of us tend to scrunch our nose a little too much which leads to some static lines on the upper portion of the nose. Others may begin to recruit these muscles as an alternative to frowning between the brows when those muscles are relaxed with tox. Well, we can soften those as well with anywhere from 6-12 units.
Lip Flip
Does your upper lip curl under and disappear when you smile? Do you have upper lip lines, sometimes called “smokers” lines? We can inject a small amount of neuromodulators above your upper lip border to help prevent the lip from curling inward when you smile. This treatment may only last about 6 weeks on average and can cause a few side effects as it relaxes your upper lip. The average dosing is 4-8 units but the minimum fee will apply if this is a stand-alone service.
Jowl Reduction
Injections placed along the jaw can help soften the appearance of jowls by reducing the downward pull of depressor muscles along the jawline. When the jawline appears smoother, this can also provide a slimming effect on the lower face. This treatment averages 8-12 units per side and we recommend adding the DAO injections to this one.
Nefertiti Lift
Combine the jowl reduction and neck lift treatments to achieve the best lift! Named for the famous Egyptian queen, this minimally invasive option offers maximum lift to the jaw and neck for a more defined, revitalized appearance.
Jaw Clencher
Expertly placed tox to help alleviate jaw tension, clenching, and grinding your teeth. Reduce pain, save your teeth, and slim your face all at the same time. Noticeable slimming in the face may take 2-3 months. Price varies depending on how many units are used, average dosing is anywhere between 15-30 units per side.
These are just some of our more commonly treated areas. Other areas may be treated so if it isn’t listed, contact us for questions or schedule a consultation with one of our skilled nurse injectors! Adding or combining areas or packages may be possible and may result in additional charges.
This may also require additional appointment time when scheduling.
